I have been dealing with computers since nearly 20 years. My first computer was the popular Commodore 64 which was introduced by Commodore International in January 1982. I purchased my first in the year 1991. Then came the laptops in the year 1994 and I bought my first in 1997 and I’m still using it without any problems. Since then I fell in love with laptop computers, mainly because they are easy to carry anywhere and consume lesser power. I have owned 6 different laptop computers so far and I’m about to buy my 7th. I’m searching for the top ten laptop computers to select the best one. This article is to share the most popular and the best ten laptop computers. My research is based on the configuration of the laptop computers and customer reviews and ratings left on popular websites like Amazon, Ebay and more.

Facts about buying a laptop computer

All computer manufacturers have basically two segments: Home and Business. There are some interesting facts that I would like to share with you before I discuss the top ten laptop computers from manufacturers like Dell, HP, IBM, Gateway, etc. These facts come from my personal experiences, I have worked for 2 years with one of the best computer manufacturer/seller (I do not wish to disclose the company name). These are the inside secrets of what companies do in the real world. Remember, when you plan to buy a computer, go for the “business computer” unless you wish to play games on your laptop. If you plan to play games and do all sorts of multimedia work, go for the Home segment computers. Otherwise, if you wish to use your laptop for work purpose, go for the Business segment computer. Why do I say so? The reason is that business computers are sold to businesses and they always have better parts than the computers for home users. Don’t believe me? Go buy two computers, one from home segment and the other from business segment. Then take out the parts and compare them with each other. Most of the parts will be from different companies. For eg., the Hard Drive in one computer may be from a low grade manufacturer, while the Hard Drive on the other computer will be from a good manufacturer like Seagate, Samsung, etc. Business computers are ought to be tough so that they don’t break down too soon. Whereas, I have dealt with thousands of home segment computer buyers who call up within a month asking for parts replacement. These are the facts I’m discussing with you. There are pros and cons of both though. Home computers are assembled for all purposes: gaming, entertainment, etc. Also, the home segment computers (generally desktops) have room for upgradation, you can add more cards such as the audio card, graphic card, etc. There are always extra slots. Whereas, most business computers cannot be upgraded. They have limited slots and are designed for work purposes only (although they will always have onboard audio and video to play music and videos). Your task is to decide, what do you wish to do with your computer. Do you wish to play hardcore games, play movies and music in high quality or do you just wish to use your computer for work purpose only? These are some of the important points you need to consider before making your purchase.

Now let’s talk about computer manufacturers! I consider Apple to be the best, but I haven’t owned one yet so I can’t really tell you how good it is. If you see the top ten laptops below, you will find the MAC computer at number 1, millions of consumers recommend Apple computers. I have always purchased HP computers because I have researched on the parts that are used in HP computers and they are from very good manufacturers. HP cares for the quality of their computers and thus, I recommend HP laptops and desktops. For gaming purpose, I used to recommend Alienware computers but not anymore, they are owned by Dell now. The only company I would buy from these days is HP, they are well known for good quality and extra goodies on your machine. Most of their laptops are equipped with inbuilt camera, mic, good sound card and more.
